  • Agricultural and rural boundary fencing
  • Pergola and outdoor structure uprights requiring in-ground fixing

Fitting and handling

When cutting these posts to length on site, always apply a liberal coat of end-grain preservative to any sawn surfaces to maintain full UC4 protection. Posts should be stored flat and off the ground prior to installation, ideally under cover if left for any extended period. For in-ground fixing, set posts in concrete or use a suitable steel post spike, ensuring a minimum of one third of the post length is below ground for adequate stability.

FAQ

What does UC4 treatment mean for a fence post?

UC4 (Use Class 4) is a preservative treatment standard recognised across the UK and Europe. It means the timber has been pressure treated to a level that makes it suitable for permanent in-ground contact and exposure to fresh water, providing long-term resistance to rot, decay, and insect attack without further treatment needed on uncut surfaces.

Do I need to treat the cut ends after sawing a UC4 post?

Yes. The pressure treatment penetrates the outer section of the timber, so any cut surface exposes untreated wood. You should apply two generous coats of a compatible end-grain preservative to all sawn ends before installation to maintain durability at that point.

What size post do I need for a 1.8m (6ft) fence panel?

For a standard 1.8m fence panel, a 2.4m post is typically used, allowing approximately 600mm to be set in the ground. Where soil conditions are loose or the fence is exposed to higher wind loading, a 3.0m post with a deeper set is a more secure option.

Puppy loves these sticks!
Color: Dogwood & Calming, Size: Medium
Dogs love these sticks! Must smell and taste like real wood because it keeps my puppy from bringing real sticks in the house from outside. She is a heavy chewer and these sticks keep her occupied. We are on our 2nd set.

Our dog loves it but it wasn’t durable enough to last
Color: Dogwood Jack, Size: Large, Color: Dogwood Jack, Size: Large
Our lab took to it as soon as we gave it to her. Perfect size for our 80 lb yellow lab. However, now that it’s in about 10 days, she’s able to break off chunks from this bone that are dime size or larger, and we have to throw it away

No problems after a year and a half
Color: Dogwood & Calming, Size: Medium
Have been regularly buying these for my corgi for about a year and a half. The 2 pack lasts about a month or 2 each time. Pieces break off in small enough pieces that they safely pass through his digestive system. He gnaws each one down to about 1/4 the original size before we take it away and give him a new one. He continues to have regular bowel movements and has a healthy appetite so I can’t imagine any problems arising after so long. I have tried other alternatives and every other similar chew breaks off in larger pieces and didn’t feel comfortable letting him chew/eat them. I noticed there are a few 1 star reviews saying their dogs got sick off these but after a year and a half I have had 0 issues with this product. I guess it depends on the dog and how big of pieces they are swallowing. My dog ingests pieces about the size of a grain of rice so just pay attention and you should be fine.
