Tom Zé maakt moeilijke muziek die desondanks makkelijk weg luistert. De Braziliaanse songschrijver vond zichzelf opnieuw uit met een hele reeks jaren zeventig albums, waarbij hij met gemak bossa-nova gitaren combineert met drill-boren en cirkelzagen. Todos Os Olhos is de eerste uit die reeks, waarop hij met een onwaarschijnlijk gemak experiment en plezier met elkaar verbindt. Diezelfde paradox is trouwens terug te vinden op de hoes, in een poging het Braziliaanse regime uit te dagen. We geven alvast een hint, het is geen oog of mond, maar een ander lichaamsdeel…
“Todos os Olhos is one of the most emblematic and essential records of the confrontational music of Brazil. By denouncing, criticizing, and mocking the trend of "heroes" who made "protest music" at the time, Tom Zé signed his eremitic letter of exclusion but not without "contest the contestation". Excommunicated from the MPB and even from Tropicália, in Todos os Olhos Tom Zé presented, with a lot of courage, an unusual way of fight Brazil's military dictatorship. All that would be later triggered in Tom Zé's career is here, always ready for a new rediscovery. This reissue includes unseen photos, new testimonials from Tom Zé himself and a lengthy article signed by Bento Araujo, author of the book series Lindo Sonho Delirante.“
